Nursing the Buurtzorg way!

In 2006, four nurses in the Netherlands set up their own social enterprise organisation, Buurtzorg, to look after older people in their homes in a truly patient-centered and holistic way. 10 years on, Buurtzorg employs more than 10,000 nurses and has established a reputation for delivering effective care at a lower cost per patient and for being a great organisation to work for.

So what do Buurtzorg do differently?


Group Supervision for Non-Medical Prescribers

SK Nurses run group supervision session for non-medical prescribers (NMPs). The supervision sessions are intended to develop and maintain the NMPs confidence in prescribing and to create an effective environment to foster peer support and learning that will be helpful in their practice.


Getting Flu is not to be sneezed at

The days are getting shorter now and it is already darker in the mornings.  I’ve got my winter woollies out and there is definitely a nip in the air first thing.  Still – the sun is quite bright and getting out in the day time and doing some gentle exercise is good for you, so out I go with the dogs!
